Haiti earthquake creating a new generation of amputees

Elizabeth Cohen - CNN

In overwhelmed hospitals of Port-au-Prince, the number of patients having limbs removed indicates a future national crisis.

Many surgeons from the Hôpital de l'Université, or HUEH believe that this catastrophe will leave as many as 200,000 Haitians without at least one of their limbs. Aid agency Médecins Sans Frontières this week claimed that the last time surgeons carried out so many amputations was during the Crimean war.

In the following video Elizabeth Cohen from CNN reports from one of the many smaller improvised hospitals tending to the many injured this major devastation.
