ACA Conference
I just back from the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) conference in Atlanta, GA. I encourage every person living with limb loss (and families & friends) to attend an ACA conference AT LEAST once. It's really amazing to look around during a conference like that and realize that MOST of the people around you are amputees. I was lucky enough to attend some extremely informative presentations, including a workshop for amputee support group leaders, advocacy classes, and even some more technical seminars. Regardless of the age, gender, amputation level, or amputation circumstances of the attendees, I saw one common thread... every person there wanted to take an active role in their healthcare plan. And most importantly, people were sharing.
It was an empowering experience. I was so happy to see many familiar faces from last year, and thankful for the friends I was able to make this year.
