Amputee Peer Visitors: A great idea for everyone!

Staff Writer

Our roles as peer visitors is to lend support, as experienced amputees, to new amputees.  Though it may be tempting to list your own accomplishments, a peer visitor really just needs to listen.  Everyone's experience is different.  I would encourage anyone that is interested in becoming a peer visitor to contact the Amputee Coalition of America and become an ACA certified peer visitor.  I had done a few peer visits before becoming ACA certified and was amazed at how much I learned during the certification process.

The key is that the visit is not about the visitor, it's about who you are visiting.
