Some good things

I was going to write about emotions, their origin, the effect they have on our ability to heal, and our ability to re-route our emotions to encourage health and wellness; then I had dinner over my friend's house and realized that there is a lot of worry and concern out there. So, I wanted to make a list of good things. This is my list, but I think it can speak to many.

To close my editorial before I list some good things, I want to bring attention to the following truth: the good things in life, and the bad things in life are present regardless of how much attention we give them. There will always be good and there will always be bad; but, that which we give energy lives. Give the good things in front of you energy. Find the root of your worry and address it. Find things to laugh about, see live comedy if you need to laugh. Find your laugher; laugh often.

Here's my list...

Technology that works without having to call the help desk
Good times with friends (pick a memory)
Warm brownies
A great workout

Walking with happy puppies

Fresh laundry scent

Sales at Yankee Candle and Bath and Body Works stores

Leaves that fall in autumn in any northern state

Holidays with friends and families (pick a memory)

Laughs, laughs, laughs

Elvis impersonators

An afternoon at Home Depot (planning any remodel, new color, or garden paradise)

Non-for-profits winning the war against poverty, hunger, animal abuse, and economic repression

Not-for-profits winning the war against all they stand for (volunteers who provide the resources)

Patting a cat that is sitting on your lap, feeling it purr

Food (pick your favorite)

Watching families, friends, cousins, neighbors, parents, couples talking in a coffee shop

Watching anyone laugh

Fire drill in the middle of a busy, boring day

Watching a woman smile at the man she loves, watching that man return the same smile

Cards, phone calls, and emails from friends that remind you how important you are to them

A sincere “thank you” from your toughest client

A warm breeze in the spring

Sunlight on your face

Listening to the snow fall in winter

Hearing the wind blow through the leaves

Music, concerts, new songs, old songs, favorite songs

Attending a child’s production of anything

Finding a 20 dollar bill in your winter coat

Getting the bill for your car repairs and it’s not as high as you thought it would be

Having an easy Monday followed by an easy week

Pie
