Introductions

Lizz Peterson

Greetings!  My name is Lizz and I’m currently finishing up my Prosthetic education at Cal State University Dominguez Hills in sunny Long Beach, CA.  (Being a Midwest native, sunshine in the winter is a nice change!)  I graduated from the Orthotics program in January.

Through these words, I’ll tell the trials and tribulations of being a “young grasshopper” in O&P.

Like many people, my road to O&P was a great and welcomed surprise.   I graduated from undergrad with a mix of science and design classes under my belt.   I worked in the design field for a few years before I decided that I wanted something a little bit more fulfilling for a career.  I toyed with the idea of med school and took an Organic Chemistry class ‘for fun.’   I ended up meeting a great group of people that introduced me to the fantastic career of Orthotics & Prosthetics.  In this field, I could be a part of someone’s life in a unique and meaningful way; and even utilize my creativity!  Since then, I have never looked back.  I am very excited about life after graduation.  But until then, I’ll savor these moments.
