The New Workout Plan

Lizz

After school one day last week, I couldn’t figure out why my muscles were so sore. I hadn’t done anything new at the gym; I hadn’t lifted any heavy boxes, or carried groceries up 3 flights of stairs. I attributed the soreness to falling into a deep sleep in an un-ergonomic position. It wasn’t until I recapped the week that I realized I’d had a little bit of a ‘new’ workout while at school!

Here’s how it broke down:
Monday—casting student patient models for Supracondylar Suprapatellar sockets
Wednesday—patient model casting, modifying cast for Total Surface Bearing sockets
Thursday—pull check socket, knock cast out of socket & clean edges, bench align

And here’s how the workout went:
Monday—shoulders, arms, lower back, gluts
Tuesday—recover
Wednesday—cardio, upper body strength training
Thursday—cardio, upper body strength training, squats
Friday—relax

The week may not sound busy to many of the practitioners casting and modifying projects for 6+ patients a day. However they are probably used to all the different ways to move their arms. Or, I could have gotten into the work a little more than required—music is a great motivator!

Next week appears to be just as busy as last. Maybe I’ll try a few stretches, this time, to get the muscles ready for the day. And I’ll still keep the music. Those that have worked with or near me in an office know how much I like modifying to music.
