Breathing

I was writing grants in 1994 for a small start up company; it was an internship I had while I was in college. My boss was not friendly or appreciative, and my job description changed daily. I lived through two months of not breathing. Anyone experience anything like this? Tune into your breathing right now… are you breathing, or taking just enough air into your lungs to keep yourself functioning? Deep breathing and taking a deep breath; these are all positive actions to take in every situation (even when you feel great!). Breathe right now, slowly. Focus on your breathing, how does it feel? Giving your body and mind the oxygen it needs; doesn’t it feel great?
There are activities that teach how to breathe, for example: Yoga (linked with meditation), Pilates, dance, running, swimming, martial arts, singing, etc… all provide breathing techniques within their own lesson plans. A singer breathes differently than a dancer or swimmer; but, all three use their breath to accomplish their goals. How can you use your lung capacity to accomplish your goals? What goals do you have? Mentally visualize your goals, and visualize your future accomplishments; breathe while you visualize. It’s very powerful.
If we allow our body and mind, then they will do everything for us; and will take us to and through our accomplishments, without effort. Why aren’t we breathing?
I’m still a shallow breather (after all these years and practice). I have job pressure, social pressure, family pressure, and then pressure I put on myself; I am the status quo! But; when I stop to breathe… I am empowered.
I can relax my body, I can relax my mind. They know what I need, and they are giving it to me as I breathe. Breathe. Make it a habit. Your body and mind will take care of the rest. Breathe.
