Each insurance company has there own determination as to whether or not cranial helmets are covered. Each insurance company has different criteria that need to be met in order for the helmet to be considered medically necessary. The criteria could be measurements of the abnormal head shape, trial of repositioning, or postoperative therapy after endoscopic surgery. Insurances companies will sometimes deny the claims as experimental, investigational, or will consider the helmet cosmetic.
