Are cranial remolding helmets covered?

Each insurance company has there own determination as to whether or not cranial helmets are covered.  Each insurance company has different criteria that need to be met in order for the helmet to be considered medically necessary.  The criteria could be measurements of the abnormal head shape, trial of repositioning, or postoperative therapy after endoscopic surgery.  Insurances companies will sometimes deny the claims as experimental, investigational, or will consider the helmet cosmetic.  To determine if your insurance company will cover a cranial remolding helmet, contact your insurance customer service department.
