Surety Bonds & Facility Accreditation Exemptions

Staff Writer

Words to the wise...be prepared! Although Orthotists and/or Prosthetists may be exempt from Facility Accreditation and Surety Bonds, it is important to note that these may only be temporary exemptions. I am not saying that these policies will not stand, it is important to know the facts about these exemptions and watch closely for any and all updates pertaining to these two issues at hand.

For example, if you (Orthotists and/or Prosthetists) have had any type of legal actions against you over the past 10 years, you may not be exempt from Surety Bond requirements even though you are an Orthotist and/or Prosthetists. Same for Facility Accreditation, it may depend on what information you disclosed in your Supplier Enrollment Application as to whether or not you may or may not be exempt.

With that being said, be prepared! Exemption status changes could be coming down the road pertaining to Orthotists and Prosthetists. Don't be left in the dark.
