LimbLogic™ VS

The latest in vacuum suspension technology is LimbLogic VS. This is the first remote-controlled vacuum suspension system on the market. The 4-Hole Controller is mounted inline on a prosthesis allowing for complete integration without the unit catching on clothing. LimbLogic VS can now be used in thermoplastic sockets as well as laminated sockets.

Unique in the elevated vacuum market, the LimbLogic VS 4-Hole Controller is waterproof. To attain this feature LimbLogic VS was thoroughly tested and met waterproof standards set by the International Electrotechnical Commission. Individuals with LimbLogic VS in their prostheses no longer need to avoid inclement weather or wet environments. Note that the hand-held fob should not become wet as it is not waterproof.

LimbLogic VS operates quietly and features 'Set & Forget' monitoring. This means that the system monitors the level of vacuum within the socket to maintain a secure and comfortable fit. Practitioners program LimbLogic VS for a set range of vacuum. Amputees may use the hand-held fob to adjust the vacuum level within the practitioner-set range.
For added versatility, LimbLogic VS may be fabricated into laminated sockets or thermoplastic sockets. For laminated sockets, a lamination 4-hole kit is included with the controller and fob. A unique drop-in adapter enables LimbLogic VS to be used with thermoplastic sockets

Ohio Willow Wood - LimbLogic VS
LimbLogic VS not what I was expecting.

I tried to go with a similar Otto Bock system for months, but the people at Otto Bock would never return my prosthetist's calls, so we went with the LimbLogic VS from OWW. I was overly excited and anxious to get this system; I had waited for so long and had only ever used a pin-lock system. Now that I have it, I rarely use it. I wear the socket, and wrap the sleeve over the socket, but I rarely charge/use the vacuum system. It's been difficult for me to get used to for several reasons. 1) I don't have the freedom anymore of bending my knee inward a full 90? like I used to be able to with the pin system. The vacuum on it is so strong that I just can't seem to bend. 2) The strong vacuum basically makes it impossible to get on your knees entirely, (which I could do with the pin system, obviously). Again, it's the restraint from the vacuum that prevents it. 3) The sleeves that are used to create the vacuum seal, covering where the socket meets the limb, wear & tear SO easily. For a two pack, out of pocket it's around $250 for these things. And getting them to cover it under warranty is very hard. It almost to me seems like this great technology with great glitches, or, areas to work on. Or maybe I'm just too used to the pin system. I want a prosthetic that I don't realize I'm wearing at any given moment. I thought this was the key. Now I'm not so sure. This system may be beneficial for someone older, less active. I'm 23 and work all the time, so I'm always on my feet, and these are the issues I've faced.
